A New Rector For Angelicum

The Master of the Order, Fr Bruno Cador,OP has announced the appointment of Fr Miroslav Konstanc Adam, OP as the new rector of the Pontifical University of St Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum). The new appointment has received the approval of the Congregation for Education. The appointment is for a term of 4 years.
Fr. Miroslav Kontanc Adam, O.P., was born on August 2, 1963 in Michalovce, Slovakia. He obtained a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the Veterinary Medicine University of Koice (Slovakia) in 1987 and worked for several years in the field of Veterinarian Science. In 1989, he entered the clandestine Dominican novitiate in former communist Czechoslovakia. He made his first profession the following year and his solemn profession in 1993. He was ordained a priest in 1995. In the same year, he completed his Masters in Theology from the University of Palacky of Olomouc (Czech Republic). He has taught canon law at the Faculty of Theology at the University of Trnava in Bratislava and at the Theological Institute of St. Thomas Aquinas in Kiev in the Ukraine. He came to Angelicum and in 2001 and obtained his Doctorate in Canon Law. In 2005, he was appointed Professor in the Faculty of Canon Law and in December 2009, he became the Dean of the Faculty of Canon Law and Vice Rector of the Angelicum. He also serves as a member of the Pontifical Commission for the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and the Congregation for the Institutes of Consecrate Life and the Societies of Apostolic Life in Rome.
Fr Adam was also engaged in pastoral work at St Mary of the Snow Parish in Bratislava and also as the chaplain of the University of Business Administration. As a Dominican, he was elected the first Provincial of the Dominican Province in Slovakia in 2001. From the curia, we wish Fr. Konstanc Adam a successful tenure.
